The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, has called on private investors to invest in the renewable energy sector so as to promote sustainable industrialization in the country.
Dr. Onu made the call while declaring open the stakeholders Forum on the Implementation of RE Policy/Feed-in-Tariffs Implementation in Nigeria in Abuja yesterday.
While affirming that the renewable energy sector was a gold mine, he added that the target of providing electricity-for-all by the year 2030 could only be realized with the participation of the private sector.
The minister said government was committed to removing all obstacles that hinder the utilization of renewable energy in Nigeria.
He said the Federal Government would also initiate legislative and judicial framework that would enhance the utilization of the sector.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the Director-General and CEO, Energy Commission of Nigeria, Professor. Eli Jidare Bala, said in addition to paucity of supply, environmental considerations also supported the use of renewable energy sources for driving sustainable development
