Federal Govt Expands Geological Data Base of 30 States

The Federal Government has expanded the geological data base of 30 states in the country, the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has said.

The minister, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Abdulkadir Mu’azu, at a workshop titled: Policy and Capacity building for a Successful and Sustainable Mining Sector II, said the ministry has worked on expanding the data in the sector.

“We recognise that improving on our collation and dissemination of geosciences data is also a critical enabler of success. In 2017, we worked on expanding the library of data and on our mineral endowments.

“We and are happy to report on the successful implementation of the projects, such as the geology and mineral database of 30 states,” he said.

He said the government considers it imperative to go beyond its borders to engage more intensely with the matrix of knowledge, experience and global support.
