Ag. ES/CEO of the Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Hajia Gana Wakil, led a team to engage with critical partners in the southwest zone, further deepening the Commission’s relationships in the region.

Ibadan, Oyo State, 21 July 2023 – As part of its commitment to fostering collaboration and promoting investments, the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) led by the Ag. ES/CEO, Hajia Gana Wakil, embarked on a two-day stakeholders’ engagement visit to the Southwest zone on July 20, 2023.

The first visit was to the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria Commission (DAWN), where the NIPC team met with the Director General, Mr. Seye Oyeleye. During the meeting, both parties expressed appreciation for the existing relationship and discussed strategies to improve the investment climate in the region. A consensus was reached to organize joint training and capacity development for Southwest Investment Promotion Agencies’ key executives, further deepening their partnership.

The second visit was to the Southwest branch of the Manufacturer Association of Nigeria (MAN) comprising Oyo, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti states. The Chairman of MAN, Pastor Sunday, highlighted various challenges faced by their members, such as high importation of raw materials and erratic power supply. He urged NIPC to promote local production and showcase investment opportunities to potential investors.

In response, Hajia Gana Wakil thanked the Chairman for the warm reception and assured MAN of NIPC’s commitment to addressing these challenges. She emphasized that NIPC is continuously working to compile and tackle such issues, and expressed optimism in the new government’s support.

The engagement resulted in an agreement to have NIPC participate in MAN’s quarterly interactive breakfast sessions, providing a platform for addressing challenges faced by different organizations and offering solutions.

Overall, the visit reaffirmed NIPC’s dedication to fostering stronger partnerships and creating an enabling environment for investments in the Southwest region. The joint efforts between NIPC and DAWN Commission will culminate in the organization of the 3rd “Southwest Investment Promotion Conference,” slated for Ogun State in 2024, demonstrating NIPC’s commitment to promoting investments and sustainable economic growth.

NIPC remains steadfast in its mission to drive investment promotion and create an investor-friendly climate for both local and international businesses in Nigeria, and the Southwest region is a critical part of this journey.
