Kano State Government, Capegate Investment Sign Waste Management, Electricity Deals

Kano State Government has signed a public private partnership agreement with Capegate Investment Limited on municipal solid waste management, waste to electricity, organic/inorganic fertilizer & air quality.

In a statement, President/CEO of Capegate Investment Company Limited, Alhaji Bashir Namadina Katukan Jega said that they will be partnering with foreign and local players including Dynamic Biogas, Horus Energia, and Digitronic Auto Gas, all from Poland and Shanghai BDER Environmental Protection Group Co. Ltd from China, along with 2 local firms – Phoenix Associates Ltd and One17 Capital Limited.

Capegate intends to deploy 30 trucks, 32 compactors, 36 mini-trucks and other equipment for solid waste collection in Kano State. They will also set up two central sewers to collect liquid and industrial waste which will be converted into electricity which to be fed into the Kano State grid.

It is projected that this venture will create jobs for at least 4,300 young people involved in waste management in Kano State.
