NIPC Partners NAITEOC for the International BPO Conference 2016

The BPO/KPO industry is an emerging sector that represents a US$300 million annual market opportunity for Nigeria with a clear potential to create a minimum of two million direct and indirect demand-driven and sustainable jobs in Nigeria within the next three years replicating what has been achieved in countries such as India, the Philippines, Ghana and most recently Egypt.

Nigeria Association of Information Technology Enabled Outsourcing Companies (NAITEOC) (www.naiteoc.ng) is a non-governmental organization conceived and initiated by the Federal Ministry of Communications under the sponsorship and guidance of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) for the growth and development of the Business Process and Knowledge Process Outsourcing (BPO/KPO) Industry in Nigeria.

NAITEOC seeks to promote and position Nigeria as an alternative Business Process Outsourcing  (BPO) and Knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) destination of choice to companies the world over seeking  to outsource such  back-end operations as contact center operations, software development, data management services etc. to competitive alternative destinations around the world.

To further position the BPO industry in Nigeria,  the Association in partnership with the Office of the Vice President, Ministry of Communications, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), the Nigerian Investment Promotion COmmission (NIPC), The World Bank, Department for International Development (DFID)/ Growth & Employment in States (GEMS3), Office of the National Content on Information and Communication Technology (ICT), to mention a few key stakeholders is organizing an International Business Process Outsourcing Conference which seeks to showcase the potentials of the Nigerian BPO/KPO industry to an international as well as domestic audience and further enable the socio-economic rejuvenation of Nigeria through the creation of new businesses and jobs for the teeming unemployed in the country.

Highlights of the Conference:

    • An Investment Forum: This will showcase the opportunities and potentials of the Nigerian BPO Industry. The BPO /BPM/KPO/ITES industry is worth US$ 166 Billion and it is projected to increase to US$ 250 billion by 2020 (philstar.com). It presently accounts for about 9.5% of India’s GDP with revenues in excess of US$ 146 Billion as at 2015 (ibef.org/industry information).The Nigerian domestic market is estimated at present to be worth over US$300 million based on domestic expenditure and is projected to grow to over US$1 billion in 5 years as the domestic market expands and the export of BPO /KPO services from Nigeria hits full gear.Key decision makers in the Information Technology/ Business Process Outsourcing/ Business Process Management/Knowledge Process Outsourcing ((IT/BPO/BPM/KPO) space in both the international as well as domestic market “demand and supply” will be in attendance. To further attract investment in the space, key players in finance from the debt and equity side within and outside the country will also be in attendance.

 

    • A Job Fair: As the Nation seeks to address the unemployment situation in Nigeria, the BPO sector provides a real opportunity for the creation of “Demand -Driven” “Sustainable Jobs”. The BPO industry in India presently employs well over 1.98 million, while in the Philippines it employs well over 1.3 million people. We estimate that this industry within 3 years can employ well over 2 million people in Nigeria directly and 5 million indirectly. The Job fair will give employers the opportunity to hire from a pool of talented, pre-screened and tested candidates.

 

  • Education/Training: BPO/KPO are relatively new concepts in the Nigerian marketplace; as such, the event will provide attendees from both the private and public sectors an educational opportunity and training to understand how to;
